DONATE TO LOCAL FAMILIES IN NEED!
Dear Friends of Immigrant Families,
In May and June, we wrote to ask you to join us in our fundraising effort to support immigrants in the county who lack access to the federal and state safety net and who are struggling to make ends meet due to COVID-19. THANK YOU so much to those of you who made a donation! Today, we are writing with an update, and to ask you to consider making an end-of-the-year donation.
For those who missed our last newsletter, SLO County UndocuSupport is a coalition of local organizations, community leaders, and concerned individuals who came together in April 2020 during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic with a common goal: to provide financial support for local immigrant families, including undocumented and mixed status immigrant families who were left out of federal pandemic relief programs.
During the past eight months, SLO County UndocuSupport has:
Raised more than $85,000 through the The Community Foundation SLO County's Disaster Relief Fund from 175 local donors;
Distributed more than $80,000 in local Disaster Support Fund grants to over 500 local families through two trusted local agencies, Community Action Partnership (CAPSLO) and Center for Family Strengthening (CFS), who have been designated to receive applications from families in need and to distribute funds.
Received more than $220,000 in grants from the California Immigrant Resilience Fund, a statewide philanthropic organization that shares our mission;
Provided support to more than 500 families, assisting them with rental and utility payments, transportation, groceries, and health needs.
SLO County UndocuSupport is currently taking steps to formalize the organization and to expand our purpose to include providing financial support not only during this pandemic, but also in the future during times of any national, state, or local crises that have a disproportionate impact on the health and well-being of immigrant families.
To this end, we are excited to announce the establishment of the SLO County UndocuSupport Fund at The Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County!
As you consider your year-end giving, we urge you to learn more about our efforts and to make a donation! Your donation is tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
