No Cost Immigration Legal Services:
How It Works
1. To start the process, come to the UU San Luis Obispo on a 1st or 3rd Sunday from 12:30-2:30. No appointment is needed. A volunteer will be available to help you to fill out a form to determine your needs and qualifications.
Days: 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month.
See flier for address and map of location.
If you can’t get there on a Sunday, call 805-439-0188 Ext. 4. (You will first hear a message in Spanish.) Leave your message and we'll return your call to set up an appointment to meet with you on a different day.
You will not be getting any legal advice during this first meeting.
2. Once you complete your application, it will be submitted to the UURISE legal team for review. The application helps the legal team determine how they can help you.
3. Within 2 business days, someone will call, text, or email you to make an appointment with an attorney or DOJ-accredited representative for a legal consultation.
4. Attend your online appointment.
You will meet on zoom or by phone with a lawyer or accredited legal representative.
Online consultations may last up to one hour.
Attend the online meeting from your home or another location where you have access to a computer or cellphone with internet access.
You are welcome to come to UU SLO for your online appointment. We have high-speed internet access. Please CALL FIRST call 805-439-0188 Ext. 4 to ensure that a volunteer will be there to meet you.
5. Follow up
If you need to scan documents or make copies, that can be done from the UU SLO office. Call first to ensure that a volunteer will be there to help you.
For questions, changes, or cancellations, call 805-439-0188 Ext. 4. Your call will be returned within 2 business days.
