No-Cost Virtual Immigration Legal Services

How It Works

Step One:

No appointment is needed. Come to the UUSLO at 2201 Lawton Ave. in San Luis Obispo on  a 1st or 3rd Sunday from 12:30-2:30.

If you are unable to come on a Sunday, it is possible to arrange a phone appointment to complete the application. Call 805-439-0188 Ext. 4 and leave a message.

  • You will not be getting any legal advice during this first meeting.

  • A volunteer will help you fill out a form to determine your needs.

  • For in-person meetings, see the flier below for the address and map of location.

  • For in-person meetings, bring any documents or paperwork regarding your case. If needed, scanning and copying can be done at the UUSLO office.

Step Two:

Depending on your needs, the volunteer will refer you to:

  • a local partner agency

  • to the UURISE legal team

Step Three:

If you are referred to UURISE, a team member from the San Diego office will call or text you within  2-3 business days to make an appointment with an attorney or an accredited  legal representative for a virtual (Zoom or phone call) legal consultation.

Step Four:

Attend your UURISE appointment by Zoom or by phone.

  • Consultations may last up to one hour.

  • Attend the meeting from your home or another location where you have access to a computer or cell phone with internet access.

  • If you do not have internet access, you can come to UUSLO for your Zoom appointment. Please CALL FIRST and leave a message at 805-439-0188 Ext. 4 to arrange for a volunteer to be there to meet you.

After the first meeting, a volunteer will be available to answer any questions you may     have about the process.

If you have questions, call 805-439-0188 Ext. 4.

Your call will be returned within 2-3 business days.
